The Trail
From the main car park the trail meanders through bushland while gently climbing to the saddle between Mt Amos and Mt Mayson. Once at the saddle a short recommended sidetrip will take you to the Wineglass Bay Lookout where fantastic views of Mount Freycinet and Wineglass Bay are offered.
From the saddle, the trail heads downhill towards Wineglass. A number of steep but short sections are included in this section, however the trail is well defined and easily managed. An additional 1 hour return walk will take you to the northern end of the beach where lovely views back towards the Hazards are offered.
Continuing on towards Hazards Beach from the start of the Wineglass Bay beach, the trail crosses the National Park along the isthmus via a flat, occasionally duckboarded, track. After 45 minutes Hazards Beach is reached. Once on the beach turn right along the beach, following it it’s northern end to continue the circuit. From here the trail skirts the coastline back towards the trailhead for 6km. A number of picturesque little coves which are perfect for swimming on hot days are also passed before the trail gently climbs uphill towards the car park.
We highly recommend visiting Wineglass Bay via this route in summer as it provides an opportunity to take in the coastal beauty of the Freycinet National Park without having to bump shoulders with 100′s of other visitors.
