暑假想带儿子到美国旅游，爸爸不去，入境的时候需要爸爸开具的授权书吗？授权书需要公证吗？

have it, you may be detained until the circumstances of the child
traveling without both parents can be fully assessed. If there is no
second parent with legal claims to the child (deceased, sole custody,
etc.) any other relevant paperwork, such as a court decision, birth
certificate naming only one parent, death certificate, etc., would be
useful.”

那个授权书是cbp建议办理但不是强制性的要求，具体内容你可以搜下美国国土安全部的网站。
父母有一方一起去就行了啊，又不需要必须两个一起。
你是孩子的妈妈是吧，只要你陪着去就不用的
