How are you related to your family member? 怎么答

是加拿大网申的时候要填的：
How are you related to your family member?
其备注是这样的：
The relationship is from your (the applicant’s) point of view.
For example: If your parent lives in Canada you should choose ’They are my parent or step-parent’.
但是选项里只有child或者parent。并没有“they are my ...”所以我觉得可能会有歧义。
假如我是母亲要申请去加拿大，我的孩子现在在加拿大。
那我应该选择child还是应该选择parent？
