美国交规规定，所有乘客都必须系安全带，包括后排。违者罚款160美元！
加州对儿童座椅的要求是，轻于60磅、身高1.44米以下、8岁以下的儿童必须使用合适的儿童座椅或增高垫，且只能坐在后排。为了安全起见，10岁的儿童可以依身高和体重使用增高垫并系好安全带。

加州的规定：As of January 1, 2012, all children younger than eight years old, or under four feet and nine inches in height, must be secured in a car seat or booster. In addition, all kids younger than eight, must be secured in the back seat.
