The package does not cover the first tank of fuel means that I should

pay the the first tank of fuel when I pick up the car on LAX and drop

off with no need to refill the tank?

At the time of rental the Avis counter will probably ask you if you

would like the Prepaid Fuel Option. This option is where you pay for a

full tank of fuel at the market value and you return the Avis car as

empty as possible because it is non-refundable.

We apologize for any misunderstanding regarding the difference between

the Prepaid Gas Option Versus Non-Prepaid Gas Option.


When our customers elect to purchase the prepaid fuel option at the time

of pickup, the savings can be significant, particularly if the customer

intends to drive a considerable number of miles during the rental. When

prepaying for the first tank of gas, the price per gallon is lower than

our normal fuel service charge, and it is comparable to, if not lower

than, most gasoline stations in the area.


Although "unused gas" is "non-refundable", customers enjoy the

convenience of returning the car without having to stop and fill the

tank. The cost of this option will always be based on the fuel capacity

of the vehicle rented, but will certainly reflect a savings when

compared to our standard refueling service fee if the car is not

returned with a full tank. We hope this basic explanation helps to

explain our fuel policy, and we regret any miscommunication or

inconvenience. As indicated, if you elect the Prepaid Gas Option and

you return the vehicle full on, there is no refund issued.


If you do not elect the Prepaid Gas Option at pickup and return the

vehicle below full, the LAX AIRPORT will charge you 9.290 per gallon and

can get costly.
