英国火车可以不按照自己买票的时间乘车吗？

刚才在别的论坛上看到一个帖子介绍剑桥到伦敦的交通，其中有这么一段“。。。。。而火车可以当地买票随时走，时间安排上比较机动。但后来知道只要有票,可以上任意时间去目的地的火车.而且双程和单程是相差无几的价格”
我定的伦敦到爱丁堡的火车是早上六点多钟的，而伦敦的住宿是包括早餐的，如果有票可以做随便时间的火车的话，启不是可以从容的吃了早餐再走嘛？诸位有这样的经验吗？

there will be a ticket inspector to check your ticket and reservation
if he/she found your reservation incorrect, you will:
1) be asked to buy a new ticket with correct reservation and subject to penalty fares where applicable
or
2) be asked to get off the train at the next station and wait for the correct train
but if he/she didnt check your reservation then fine
