你好，我想请问大家，我是一名在校大学生，打算和嫂子（亲嫂子）去美国给小侄子做治疗（因为哥哥请不下假），我想知道我应该准备些什么材料，我家里条件一般，父母那边可能提供不了太多的经济支持，我的担保人主要是哥哥嫂子。 还请大家多多帮助，指点迷津。

If your sister-in-law can get some letters from US hospitals or doctors saying that your nephew can only be treated in US or his condition will deteriorate, then there might be a chance. But financial means is very important since it may costs hundreds of thousands of dollars. One day stay as inpatient in a regular hospital will run $500-$2000, plus the tests, medicine, treatment and surgery. I am sure the visa officer would want to know how your family is going to pay the bills. They certainly do not want to cover the expenses with taxpayers' money unless your nephew is US citizen.
But for you, there is no compelling reason why you should go to US with them even if you are licensed medical professional. You will be better off getting a visa as a tourist.
