HK旧山顶道步行下山方便吗？

十一去HK，打算去山顶，现在计划坐车上去走下来，google上给出的步行路线正好可以经过动植物公园这也是想去的，所以想问问旧山顶道走路安全吗？网上关于这条路说靠近山顶的部分是不通车的，下山后有一节是可以行车的，想问问行车这一节边上有人行道吗？
ps我打算经中环去做天星小轮过九龙：）
