长老们：New York两个月租房怎么办？

各位长老们：
因为有一个交换项目，我要在今年夏季8－10月中两个月去New York的Columbia大学。
听说纽约的房子很贵，也不方便租到。
请给个意见，如何是好？是住hostel还是租房？

You may rent a basement apartment with kitchen and bathroom (about $600) （纽约老华人称之为土库）
or a room sharing kitchen and bathroom (about $550/month) in Flushing or woodside. You only need put one month deposit and let landlord know 2 weeks before moveout.
I may take subway 7 train and transfer subway 1 train at 116th Street, or A, C, B, D train at 116 Street (about 1 hour 20 min. one way). Most New Yorkers live in this way.
You could find the ads in Chinese news paper: World Journel (世界日报) or in Chinese Super market, 金山超市 in Main Street, Flushing.( end of subway 7 train).
Or you may get a temporary place to live in Flushing and rent a room near Columbia univ. (ask your colleagues,)

补充几点：1，地下室如果有厨房肯定是违法的。2，最好现在就开始在哥大的相关网站上找sublease，你来的那时候是开学房子最紧张的时间。3，短租2个月，自己独立去租一般租不到房，纽约一般是签2年的lease，所以和别人合租比较可行。4，住法拉盛离疙瘩太远，不过在法拉盛容易找到房，最容易的方法就是找家庭旅馆包租2月。
