索尔维公馆是维克多·奥塔为阔绰的比利时化学家和实业家欧内斯特·索尔维（Ernest Solvay）之子阿曼德·索尔维（Armand Solvay）设计建造的。奥塔花重金购买贵重的材料并专注于细节的雕琢，家具，地毯，灯具，餐具乃至门铃。他使用昂贵的材料如大理石，玛瑙，青铜，热带木材等等。Wittamer家族在1950年代购买了该住宅并竭尽所能保护并修复这个宏伟的住宅，可以说索尔维公馆至今保存完好很大程度上归功于他们。目前该住宅仍然属私人财产，仅能通过预约并在极其严格的条件下方可参观。这座建筑2000年被列入联合国教科文组织的世界遗产名录。图片来自flickr,作者"Sitomon",CC版权

    这座公馆是奥塔为Solvay家族设计的。当时没有预算的限制,所以使用了很多昂贵和稀有的材料。想要参观的话，稍微有点困难，因为要有严格的安排，价格也比较贵，貌似超过40欧？因为是私人住宅的关系。

    Victor Horta was a Belgian architect and designer. John Julius Norwich described him as "undoubtedly the key European Art Nouveau architect." Horta is considered one of the most important names in Art Nouveau architecture. With the construction of his Hôtel Tassel in Brussels in 1892-3, he is sometimes credited as the first to introduce the style to architecture from the decorative arts. The "biomorphic whiplash" style that Horta promoted deeply influenced architect Hector Guimard who used it in projects in France and extended its influence abroad.
    In 1932 King Albert I of Belgium conferred on Horta the title of Baron for his services to the field of architecture. Four of the buildings he designed have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
