North Avenue beach has it all-Castaways is a restaurant/bar that you can enjoy and feel as though you are on a beach in Florida! It offers all kinds of rental gear too! In addition, it is a great location for people watching. The crowd tends to be much younger so if your looking to relax this wouldn't be your spot. Although I always enjoy sitting, walking or riding my bike along north ave beach to watch the volleyball games taking place. There is also an area where you can rent lounge chairs and umbrellas! Tough to get to unless you have a bike! You can get there early and pay a premium to park in the small lot by the beach or park a solid 3/4 of a mile away (closest parking spots) and then walk to the beach. I suggest you rent a bike, enjoy the scenery and find your favorite spot to take in the views. On a side note about a half mile north of castaways restaurant is the perfect resting spot and viewpoint of the city-it sits on Fullerton street-and there are food vendors there now so you can have lunch or sit under one of the giant trees! One of my favorite views of the city!
